“In the Hive, we have a tradition. When a child dies, we all gather and make lights. We then let these lights loose into the sky so that the spirit can find their way in the darkness to the afterlife. These lights are also for us, the ones left behind so we can have a little light to hold onto. Even after the lights fade, we have to remember to stay together, so we can lift each other up and love one another. Death is never easy, but we have to believe in the face of tragedy that our loved ones will live on, and that one day we will meet them again. So long as we keep them in our hearts and our memories, they will never really leave us.”

(My prayers and heart goes out to those affected by the tragedies in Newton, Connecticut and China. A child should never be victim to such violence, and I am deeply saddened how one of these occurrences happened close to home.
